About Our School

Friarage Community Primary School is a large nursery and primary school situated in the historic old town of Scarborough and is in walking distance of South Bay beach.

The school opened in 1896 and was re – designed in 2010 under the “Schools for the 21st Century” initiative. There are currently around 331 pupils in attendance at the school, including a very well established Foundation Stage providing quality provision for children aged 3 and 4 years old.

The school is proud to serve a diverse population with approximately 48% of pupils with English as an additional language.

Friarage Community Primary School is a family and a team which successfully provides a warm and friendly learning environment in which children and staff thrive.

The school fosters high expectations and children behave well at the school.

The school works closely with the local community and parents.
