Admissions

Coast and Vale Learning Trust is the admission authority for the school and is responsible for determining its admission arrangements. The Trust has determined that all admissions will be co-ordinated through the Local Authority's co-ordinated admission arrangements. 

Application for places at the school need to be made through the Local Authority via their website: www.northyorks.gov.uk/primaryadmissions.  Each year the Local Authority produce ‘A Guide for parents Admission to schools’ – a summary guide which can also be found on their website.

How many children can the school take in the reception year group?


After the appropriate consultation with all stakeholders, the maximum number agreed with the Local Education Authority is 45. this will take effect from September 2023 and subsequent years.

The maximum number for other year groups is as follows: 

Year 1 - 60

Year 2 - 60

Year 3 - 60

Year 4 - 60

Year 5 - 45 

Year 6 - 45

When can my child start?


Children are normally admitted at the start of the autumn term of the school year in which they will be five. 


Friarage Nursery accepts children from the age of 3 years. To apply for a place, please contact the school for an application form. 

 


School Admission Appeals

Timetable for Admission Appeals

Coast and Vale Learning Trust follows North Yorkshire County Council’s agreed timetable for admission appeals.

The admissions appeals dates for 2024 is the week commencing the 20th May 2024.

May – Closing date for primary admissions appeals.  Appeals for a place at a particular primary school must be received by this date.

June - July – Admission appeal hearings.  Main primary admission appeals to be heard during this period.

The School Standards and Framework Act 1998 (Section 94) gives you the right to appeal the LEA’s decision should your child be refused a place. If you wish to appeal against a decision relating to admissions please contact you Local Education Office who will send you a Notice of Appeal form and details about what to do next.
